Silly Moon Quilting Presentation at March Meeting

Please join us on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. using the Zoom app.

Kellie Kaczmarek from Silly Moon Quilting will be presenting “The Amazing World of Ruler Quilting”.

This presentation is about rulers and the basics of quilting with rulers on either longarm or domestic machines. Kellie will cover the benefits of ruler quilting, the difference in ruler thicknesses, how to choose rulers, how to set up your machine and work area for ruler quilting, what items will make your ruler quilting easier, ruler markings and what they mean, as well as many other tips and tricks. The presentation also includes a small trunk show as well as an “over the shoulder” view of the basics of ruler quilting.

Silly Moon Quilting Co. is a Fraser Valley, British Columbia based business that has begun designing and making machine quilting rulers and tools for the quilting industry. They are a small business who saw a need for unique machine quilting rulers for domestic and longarm machines and were able to supply that need.

Kellie got inspired to begin quilting after seeing an amazing wall hanging that a friend had hand quilted. She purchased fabric for a flannel rag quilt, made for a family member with cancer. She was hooked and made many more rag quilts, each one a little more complex than the last and with a little better sewing. Kellie quickly decided that she loved the quilting process and eventually became a long armer. Kellie wanted to add some rulers that could be used on her long arm and domestic to her toolbox. Her husband, who is a machinist, was able to make them.

Zoom link will be sent a few days before the meeting.
