Julie Garcia Presentation at April 2026 Meeting

Please join us on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Vittoria Community Centre.

Julie Garcia will present “Inspirations and Techniques for Fabric Landscapes”.

Julie is a fabric artist, entrepreneur and educator.

Julie studied Clothing & Textiles at the University of Manitoba in a Degree program in Human Ecology. Her courses focused on textile science and apparel manufacturing, but she continued to sew for fun and as a hobby. Several years ago, she enrolled in a fabric landscape course with fibre artist Judith Baker Montano. The knowledge and inspiration gained in that course, completely changed her life. Julie loves the idea of creating art for walls with fabric. What could be better than “painting” with fabric and thread?

President’s Teachable Moment – 2025-26

March 2026

Feedback from the Spring 2025 Members’ survey had multiple requests to learn or make Log Cabin Blocks

As with many quilt blocks there are many layout possibilities from traditional to modern.

Over the next months, we plan to present the log cabin block and variations of it to make each month.

You can make one block or a group of blocks for placemats, table runners, pillows, insert into a garment, or a bag, or any size quilt

This is a great way to use scraps!
