Jacquie Gering Presentation at September Meeting

Please join us on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. when we kick off our year using the Zoom app.

Jacquie Gering will be presenting “Quilting: An Essential Design Element”.

Jacquie will share her quilts in this special trunk show that focuses not only on the pieced design, but on how quilting can be used to support, enhance, and complement the piecing to create a cohesive, effective composition. Jacquie will highlight walking foot quilting but the principles she shares will apply to whatever quilting method you prefer.

Jacquie began quilting in 2009 after being exposed to the work of the Gee’s Bend quilters. Her heritage is Mennonite and quilting is part of her family history. As Jacquie began to explore traditional quilt-making, she quickly diverged into her own way of making and creating designs that spoke to her modern, minimalist aesthetic, and designs that communicated issues about which she is passionate. Jacquie quilts to share who she is and what she believes through her work and to encourage a wider audience to engage with quilts as an artistic medium.

Zoom link will be sent a few days before the meeting.
