SUMMARY:April 2026 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Julie Garcia will present “Inspirations and Techniques for Fabric Landscapes”. \nJulie is a fabric artist\, entrepreneur and educator. \nJulie studied Clothing & Textiles at the University of Manitoba in a Degree program in Human Ecology. Her courses focused on textile science and apparel manufacturing\, but she continued to sew for fun and as a hobby. Several years ago\, she enrolled in a fabric landscape course with fibre artist Judith Baker Montano. The knowledge and inspiration gained in that course\, completely changed her life. Julie loves the idea of creating art for walls with fabric. What could be better than “painting” with fabric and thread? \nWebsite \nYouTube \nInstagram \n \n

SUMMARY:March 2026 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Sarah and Charlie Yetman will present her trunk show “For the Love of Quilting”. \nSarah Yetman of Spooled Rotten Quilts operates a small longarm business out of her home in Brantford\, ON. After domestic quilting for six years for herself she decided to take the leap and dove into the world of longarm quilting. Quilting full time has been a dream come true for Sarah. Recently Sarah’s artistic endeavours have been spent developing digital designs for the longarm. Her love of quilting has been contagious as she has inspired three of her children to make their own quilts. Quilting has been an incredibly rewarding journey that Sarah feels has just begun! \nIn her trunk show\, Sarah will share many of the quilts she has made from early inspiration to current quilting projects. She will also demo how she uses Procreate to help her create quilting designs and patterns. This software skips the constant erasing of a pencil on paper while developing your next exciting creation. \nWebsite \nFacebook \nPinterest \nInstagram

DESCRIPTION:Donna Bethune\, a member of the Norfolk County Quilters’ Guild\, will present a trunk show “My Quilting Journey”. \nDonna began quilting in 1985 because her brother married a “Quilter”. She has been quilting with her sister and sister-in-law since then. It has only been the three of them and with a little help from her mother. Her mother would iron their pieces when they had mini retreats. Donna has not quilted with anyone else until she joined the Guild approximately five years ago. Since then\, Donna’s hobby has exploded in a good way. \n \n

SUMMARY:October 2025 Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Dresden Plate Block Made with a Wedge Ruler Workshop \nMary McKenzie\, a member of NCQG\, will lead us in making a Dresden Plate block with a modern twist. \nMary will be teaching “Vintage Spin” from Kathy Doughty’s book\, “Adding Layers”. The block is a Dresden Plate pattern made with a 18-degree wedge ruler. \nIt has 20 segments\, (10 light and 10 contrasting and a circle for the centre). Easy peasy! The block is sewn as a circle. You can leave the circle whole and applique it onto a background or cut into a 13 1/2” square. Two very different looks. It’s all about your fabric choices. \nIf you want an even more dynamic look\, you can sew strips of contrasting and variable widths of fabric together and then cut out your wedges. There are “sew” many options! \nCheck out the pictures of some of the quilts Mary has made using the wedge ruler. \nIf you like these quilts\, sign up for the class. Mary promises it won’t hurt! \nDate: Tuesday\, October 21\, 2025\, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Vittoria District Community Centre. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. \nMaximum number of participants: 21 \nRegistration Fee: members $20.00

SUMMARY:September 2025 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Chantelle Lynch will present “Connecting the Dots”. \n\n\nChantal comes to us from Hyggeligt Fabrics located in St. Mary’s. She worked in the travel/tourism industry for 25 years but was not a quilter. However\, when she saw Kaffe Fassett’s early fabrics she fell in love. Chantal contacted the distributor\, rented a small space in a drapery fabric store\, and so it began. She quickly outgrew that space and decided to make the leap where she opened her current lovely space. The rest is history. Hyggeligt is the place to get Kaffe fabrics among many other fabric lines. She is a Bernina dealer and a Certified Quiltworx Shop. \n\n\nChantal will have a pop-up shop following her presentation. \nWebsite

SUMMARY:June 2024 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Venue: In-person at the Vittoria Community Centr \nKaren Zandstra’s presentation is “My Quilt Journey — from Hand Quilting to Longarm Quilting” and Ben Zandstra’s presentation is “Machine Maintenance — What You Can Do”. \nKaren of Dream Big Quilting will present a mini trunk show as she shares where she began to where she is now. Karen began quilting over 30 years ago after years of sewing\, and she has never looked back. Karen’s journey has evolved over the years from hand quilting to domestic machine quilting and now longarm quilting. \nBen of Sewtech Services will present information about sewing machine maintenance. This business began back in 2019. Kindred Spirits was looking for a technician and their daughter\, Amy\, thought this would be the perfect retirement gig for Ben. She was right! Ben loves what he does. Ben will show a few different machine types and give members some basics on how to maintain your machine while you work on your amazing projects. \nWebsite: https://www.facebook.com/dreambigquilter \nWebsite: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063812252358 \n \n
