Convert Traditional Patterns into Paper Pieced Patterns Workshop

Join Us to Learn How to Convert Traditional Patterns into Paper Pieced Patterns at a Workshop with Donna Prystie

Please not that this is NOT a workshop that will teach you how to paper piece. Participants are expected to have a good foundation in the practice of paper piecing (foundation, paper, or freezer paper).

You will want to join us at this workshop if you want to learn the principles involved in converting your patterns into paper piecing.  In this workshop, we will limit our patterns to those that contain straight seams only.  We will not be sewing curved seams.

These are two examples of converting patterns to paper pieced blocks.

Date:

May 28, 2024, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Maximum number of participants:

In the morning, we will work together on several patterns, beginning with fairly simple ones and progressing as we are comfortable. You will learn how to:

  • draw your new pattern using ¼” graph paper
  • identify the order in which the pieces will be sewn
  • avoid T-intersections
  • identify sections of the pattern that must be sewn separately
  • colour your final pattern to help choose appropriate fabric/colour for each piece

In the afternoon, we will work on our own individual patterns brought from home.
