It’s that time of year again. Time to clean up the yard, put away the summer furniture and start thinking about those sewing machines.
Yes…it’s time for our Winter Workshop. Are you ready?
Members of the Program Committee (Denise Eighteen, Donna Prystie, Marilyn Davis and Anneli West) will present four projects for our members.
Participants will choose two projects and will receive patterns, supply list and instructions for three of the projects.
Participants will learn one of their chosen projects in the morning and one in the afternoon.
This workshop will be a fun day for all!
Date: Tuesday, October 17, 2023, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Maximum number of participants: 40
Registration Fee: members $35.00
Venue: in-person at Vittoria Community Centre
Project 1: Pillow Cover with fusible applique Winter/Christmas design (Donna Prystie). This pillow cover, using an applique (7 choices provided), can be made in the size of your choice.
Project 2: Christmas Gift Bag (Marilyn Davis). This gift bag project is simple to construct but provides opportunities for you to learn how to make prairie points and do raw edge applique (if you don’t already know these techniques). Ideas will also be provided for making larger versions, changing proportions, and adding handles.
Project 3: Halloween Art Quilt (Denise Eighteen). This art quilt is an introduction into the world of art quilts using “Steam a Seam 2”. This introduction process produces a Halloween landscape of a “Haunted House”. The kit, including instructions and fabrics, is $10.00 (payable to Denise at the Winter Workshop) and will be given only to participants who attend her workshop.
Project 4: Scrap Pieced Mug Rug (Anneli West). Have you ever wondered what crumb piecing is and how to do it? Get some instructions and practice here with a mug rug workshop utilizing your scraps. Just throw your scraps in a bag and join in.
